Once you start college, you will soon come to the realization that managing your time will be an important factor in your success. With the majority of the work to be done out of class, juggling multiple classes, campus events, social activities, and possibly a part-time job, here are some tips to help you better manage your time.
Use a Calendar
You need to block out times you are in class or busy and set aside specific times you plan to study. When you have it in front of you, you will be reminded of what you need to do that day.
Prioritize
Hopefully your class load isn’t equally difficult. Allocate your time wisely to each class depending on the workload and degree of difficulty of the class. While you may enjoy studying for one class more than another, make sure the amount of time you are putting into it will be reflected in the grade.
Take Notes
Remembering small details in class might seem easy at the time, but after three or more classes, you will most likely forget. Take copious notes during classes so you aren’t scrambling later.
Use Online Resources
Pulling an all-nighter rarely yields good results so manage your time more efficiently by pre-writing. Take advantage of online resources that are available to you like OPPapers. Why would you start from scratch if you can utilize information from other students? Plagiarism is out of the question these days with sites that can easily detect a plagiarized paper, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get topic ideas, formatting help, research paper sources and new ideas on a boring topic.
Maximize Time
If you can study at work or on the bus on your way across town, go for it. Always have something on hand in case you find yourself waiting or with some free time.
Following these tips will hopefully reduce the stress of not having enough time or help avoid all-nighters. Do you have any helpful tips to manage your time as a student?

You should also try to schedule some time off. It helped me back in a day… when I was a student. 🙂

Thanks for the great post Tara! I think taking notes is huge, and I like to use OneNote and Evernote to help me keep track of everything!
Also, Aloysa is right, plan some time off!
